Storytelling, narrative and laughter are some of the best ways for us to come together.
— Michael Tanenbaum, VP of Public Relations

In life, in business and in Toastmasters, storytelling, narrative and laughter are some of the best ways for people to come together. In challenging times such as the present, these tools have never been more crucial.

Imagine the crackle of a campfire and the stories told around them.

Recall your childhood, sitting at the feet of an elementary school teacher while she read a book out loud to the class.

Recount how a funny anecdote or a well-placed joke focused you on a keynote speaker at a business conference.

You were mesmerized by the stories and connected through the laughter.

Do these ideas spark memories?

Table Topics: Advancing The Story

During our online meetings since the pandemic began, we have made long-form storytelling an integral part of our Table Topics session. The Table Topics Master chooses the theme like before. However, rather than simply asking a freestanding question, each member has to advance the story forward, taking into account details and clues given by previous members’ answers. The members have become incredibly engaged, despite the challenges of the Zoom format.

As one guest remarked, these Table Topics are “inspiring and give me a warm feeling to see the members support one another in their journey.”

A Club Filled With Extraordinary Stories

Toastmasters 90210 is a club filled with extraordinary stories, told by a diverse membership at the crossroads of many, many different cultures and traditions. It is a laboratory for developing new modes of communication, listening. and leading.

New stories are waiting to be told each week. When will you tell yours?

Visit us on Zoom. We meet Monday nights 7pm-8:15pm.

If you have any questions, please reach out to our VP of Membership or the other club officers listed on our website.
