How to Answer a Table Topics Question

By Dari Mackenzie, ACS, CL

We come to Toastmasters to become public speakers – or at least to become adept at speaking in public situations. We want to learn how to present a cohesive, interesting speech to become adept at engaging an enrapt audience. We love, enjoy and embrace the speech path in Toastmasters.

On the other hand, we endure Table Topics. Spontaneous, extemporaneous, off-the-cuff speaking is…scary.

In this presentation, 2019-2020 Club President Dari Mackenzie shares with us a list of do’s and don’ts, tips and strategies to enable us to get a handle on answering Table Topics questions. The goal is to provide a framework for you to not be nervous, freaked out and tight lipped when it is your turn to answer a Table Topics question. It’s a learning process.

Relax, enjoy and have fun!
